I have a Starling P-500 Jet Drive made by Propulsion Research, Inc. in Minneapolis within the 1965-1968 time period. The 5-hp, air-cooled, single cylinder 2-stroke power head was built by Clinton Engines Corporation of Maquoketa, Iowa.
What is the best oil to use in in this engine? I use Echo PowerblendX 2 cycle in my echo blower and eskimo ice auger, can I use this same oil or is another recommended?

Lawn Boy two-stroke oil. Air cooled two-strokes use a different oil than water cooled marine engines. Any department store that sells lawn mowers has it. Comes in a small green can.

Agreed .... lawn mower type oil, it's more heat resistant as per any air-cooled engine requirement. Had a 5 hp Clinton than ran great on lawn mower oil ... Also had an air cooled Elgin and cooked it using normal outboard oil (as per friend's recommendation) .
