Am comtemplating buying 1965 Chrysler 9HP
over the internet. Have always had OMC's.
Am running a 20FT Proline with 140HP Evie
on it, but need a kicker for trolling in
Tampa Bay and navigating in and out of a
river I'm moored on about 1 mile upstream
from Tampa Bay rather than running the "big
boy" for that, with price of gas and distance
I like to go.
Were these motors in general dependable? Hard to get parts for now?
Pictures look good and seller claims it's little
used, & I know what will have to be done in way
of routine maintenance. Just would like to hear
from you pro's on whether or not these were
fairly good motors or not. Boy the Johnson's
(older) are bringing BIG bucks on the auction
blocks. As they should I guess.
Have always found and gotten great advice from
you folks out there.
Thanks all for any opinions you may have.
Bob :)

Those old Chryslers were OK motors in their day but if it breaks down plan on using it for an anchor. Buy something that you can get parts for.

Snowbird2; I have a 6hp and a 9.9hp Chrysler and they both run very well but require good care. If all maintenance is kept up I've found both to be good motors. As for parts and moral support contact these people, www.geocities.com/the chrysler crew/ - they have helped me a couple of times. Also don't forget the most important piece of equiptment- A Manual- for your 9hp it's Intertec Publishing's #B750.

Good Boating. Hal
