1965 Merc 9.8 prop shaft removal

The manual I have only goes back to 72', Does the shaft on my 1965 9.8come out the same as a 72 9.8 ? Got the carrier nut off, now what? Clamp shaft in soft jaws and tap case ?

Ayuh,... If your 1965 Looks like the 1972, I'd guess it probably Is...
