Re: 1966 16' aluminum starcraft Jupiter

Well, I used stock thickness alum sheet for the inner gunwales and alum angle to match what was already there. Lots of bends and rivets for strength!:)

maybe that's what i will end up doing, i just don't wanna dump a bunch of money into this boat. I know its gonna be costly all together but i don't wanna go to deep on it, watching your thread and pics and things u used it looked as if u definitely put some money into it all along with your time and sweat.

lol yea thats about what im doing to, i might be able to get some .125g aluminum from work its just gonna be str8 shots along the gunny because of the way the previous owner cut the bow out plus some quater size holes in the top at the bow end i gotta fix somehow or cover up after all that im gonna paint the inside then do the transom and get it in then the deck then the splashwell after the deck. then its on from there with wiring lights storage livewells console exc... im rly hoping i can get this done by mid august and for under $1200 total witht he motor!

Here's the pics of my father's boat. It's a 1966 16ft Jupiter.
He did the conversion to open bow back in the early 90's.

thanks part time his trim is a lot like what jas did with his, i like it set that way. i gotta do something different though in a way cause my trim line doesn't wrap itself like that. idk im at a stand still for the moment cause of cash flow but nxt week im gonna be all over trim rivets and gluvit then priming and painting the outside and building the new transom.

o and what color is gluvit after it is laid down?

thanks

Yah, paintable, but it's best to put it on the inside of the hull so paint isn't real necessary there.

Yup, just south of town by a few miles;)

Well, the "trim" was just stock angle alum that any of the hardware stores carry actually.

So wait, where abouts are you located now? Midland, Lansing?

I believe Gluvit is a clear epoxy material.

Re: 1966 16' aluminum starcraft Jupiter

here is a shot from the back, the left side trim is done right side needs rivets finished and the piece of aluminum is what im gonna do to the bottom of the boat. I REALLY liked how JAS's boat turned out with the shark skin on the bottom half like that so i am gonna go ahead and steal your idea on that jas but im gonna buff it a bit more like that and im also gonna do my steering console the same way buffed aluminum with rivets and shark skin.

Yah, that was a real cool look. Took some work to get it that way but I was very happy with it in the end.

after spending 4 more hours working on the boat and looking at it and spending some time on the bottom. Im relizing its not gonna happen for me on the bottom like yours. Mine is in pretty rough shape with dents and dings and paint that simply wont come off (tried 4 diffrent strippers, diffrent times, 4k psi power washer lol) so im just gonna prime it sand it down and paint it. I will do the steering console that way with the sharkhide for sure though.

colors are gonna be dark forest (emerald) green outside top/bottom, Idk what inside yet but i am gonna do medium grey carpet <--- or is carpet a PIA? and maybe i should just put some kins of waterproofing epoxy sealer down and paint it?

give me some ideas please...

Thanks
