I purchased a 1966 33hp Johnson Super Sea Horse. The name plate shows it to be an RX-14. It has a cable pulley steering wheel system installed on it as on now. I have been looking for photos of this motor with a tiller handle. Was this motor originally sold with a tiller? The guy I got it from said he believed the first owner of the boat added the steering wheel. It looks like it would accept a tiller without much problem. I also cannot find a listing of the tiller handle part number. Any suggestions?

Tiller handle kit was an accessory that year. Same as this '68

Thank you for the reply. This is a good place to start. I am not sure what the reverse steering handle kit is. Does anyone know what other models would have used this same part? I also have a question about O & M's. What do I need to be able to go through the motor and make sure it is in good working order. I have seen owners manuals, part catalogs, and service manuals. Do I have to all of them to get this motor working? Thanks for your time.

Try E-Bay for the steering handle kit and a service manual.

Plenty of parts manuals to view for free on-line. Owner's manual tells you how to operate and care for the motor. Service manual tells you how to fix it. Both factory and aftermarket service manuals have their good points (and bad points). Aftermarket ones are written with the novice in mind, factory ones are written for the dealer's shop where (hopefully) the guy has at least a basic idea of what he is doing. There are errors in the aftermarket ones, and they cover a multitude of various models.
