Hi i have a 1966 9.5hp Evinrude outbord motor that has been given to me a year ago by my grandfather who past away. The motor ran fine and i bought a new gastank for it and everything last year, were i cleaned the motor and draned for the winter. This year i put it back on the 14' syvan boat to use it, when a couple problems occured, when i start it i have to hold the throdel to the left as hard as a can or it will shut off and resently iv had a problem where when i am going full throdel and the boat hydro planes like it usaly does, it gets to the peak were it was just about to and then makes a sound as if a belt or chain fell of as it is still in motion it imeadly slowed down the engein will still move at slower speeds untill i put it at full throdel were it will do the same thing. could you please sugest what is wrong and what i should do to fix it.
