EDIT I just bought a 1965 starcraft and the ignition switch needs to be replaced. The person I bought the boat from had the wires detached and lost the key. It is still a really a good boat and deserves the attention. $300 was not bad for a boat, trailer, motor and parts motor. I am just trying to get it up and running so I can take it out fishing. Any help will help.

Howdy.

Welcome to iboats. :)

You will save yourself a lot of grief and probably some bux, too if you just get yourself a Service Manual, Stackerj.

Best manuals here: www.outboardbooks.com and you just might find one on eBay.

Good luck. :)

Look for a number beside the keyhole. Probably something like KF-xx. Then get a new key from an Evinrude dealer. Easy and cheap. OR, once upon a time when there were real locksmiths in this old world, they could make you a key from the code number. The kid at the hardware store probably isn't a locksmith. But maybe you have a real one in town if you are lucky.
