Im sure subjects like this have been everywhere, but I have searched the net, searched this site, and just can't find an explanation that I understand...

I have a 66 johnson super seahorse 60 horse v4, I need a prop for it, Currently there is nothing there. the shaft has no splines, keyways, etc, just looks like a straight up pin drive.

I am trying to find one without demolishing the bank account on a glorified fan blade- ;)

I have zero understanding of pitch, and all the other measurements, all of these variations are driving me crazy trying to search for what I need.

The boat is a 14' fiberglass tri-hull open bow. generally it is just me and a buddy fishing out of it, but alot of time I just cruise, and like to pile in a few people. So what would a good general purpose prop be for me.

I don't care if its used, i just need something that will work. I am ready to strap this laptop to the shaft and throw it in gear I am so sick of searching - hah

thanks ahead of time to anyone who can offer any input.

I looked in this site store and found a prop. it was the only one listed as available that would fit my motor. so I ordered it. its cheap enough that I figured it would be atleast a spare if it wasnt exact dimensions for best performance.. here is a link to that

Re: 1966 Johnson 60HP v4 prop

The 66 brochure lists a 9 1/4 X 10"(diameter X pitch) as a standard prop with a number of options.
The final prop would depend on the application.I think the standard prop would work for you.The few old omc props I have purchased I got on Ebay.I found a number of vendors that listed the prop its size and part number and its application.
Check the vendors feedback etc.The vendor I chose assured me I could return it if it wasn't as described. You could also try your local prop shops for a good used prop.Sometimes they have repaired props that haven't been picked up.
