MY LOWER UNIT SEEMS TO BE BAD.WHEN I GIVE IT THE GAS IT KIND OF WINDS OUT <br />[like a clutch slipping in a car}ANY ANSWER THANKS Bruce

Sounds like your prop is spinnimg on its hub. Many out boards and i/o's ahve a spline on the prop shaft that the prop slides onto. Is yours like this, or does it have a shear pin drive (no splines on prop shaft,there is a pin that goes thru the shaft)?

I DON'T KNOW ON THE PIN.BUT IT MOVES OK AT LOWER SPEED.BUT GIVE IT SOME GAS IT STARTS TO WIND OUT ???? THANKS

I think you have a bad prop hub. Most props have a rubber hub in them that is pressed in. If it is worn, it may work fine a low speeds, and then slip when you try to go faster. If you have another prop I would try that one. The rubber hub can usually be replaced by a prop shop.

Sounds like the clutch spring and hub are slipping. They CAN be repaired !!!!. Most dealers will insist on replacing both and it will amount to a large repair bill. Sparky
