I have had this boat for a little over a year it has a harness that runs from the control box and battery to a plug that goes into the side of the motor. The wires were all dry rotted and corroded so last year I replaced all wires from the ignition and battery all the way back about 6 inches from the plug.I tried to get a new plug but was told it was next to impossible so I left it like that and it has worked till this year. The last several trips out I have had problems I would turn the key and nothing, but i would go back and forth wiggling the plug and eventually it would start,I decided I wanted to wire the motor direct bypassing the plug so i will have all new wires and connections.I am having a problem there. From the ignition back there are a total of 8 wires.A positive cable from battery to side of solenoid,a negative cable from battery to top of starter,a yellow wire from ignition to front post of solenoid,a red wire from ignition to rectifier,a white wire from ignition to magneto,a blue wire from ignition to a terminal that is right between the two fuel pumps, not sure what its called but these all I am pretty sure are all right because I could match the colors up from the female side of the plug, however the remaining two wires a green and a black go into the plug but there is no wire on the back side to show me where they need to go.I have a clymer manual and it has a schematic but the colors they list are not the ones I have so it does not help me much, can anyone tell me how to figure this out?I tried it with the 2 wires unhooked and turned the key and nothing I the hooked the black to an engine ground and nothing.I think I may have burned up my solenoid as well because i was checking with a voltmeter and was getting 12 plus at the solenoid on the one side but would turn the key and get nothing on the other side.So i tried the old screwdriver on each side of the solenoid and the starter engaged,is this an indication that the wiring is correct and the solenoid is for sure bad is there another test. Also i tried jumping the starter as mentioned above both with the key turned on and with the key turned off and it engaged the starter both ways,I thought the key had to be on but i am no mechanic so here i am asking,Thank you all in advance for your time and info.the serial number on my motor is 1897689 also can someone tell me if this is a 650s or 650ss thanks again
