Drilled out the rivits and pulled up the floor. Removed foam panels what was left of them. Then fired up the shop vac and hose and went to town. There was a lot if scrubbing to be done. Finished it just before a series of 4 hour constant downpours. She looks pretty clean come this morning . Next on the agenda is to order up some gulvit, put down some new foam and build a new floor.

That is exceptionally clean. Not much elbow grease to prep for Gluvit. Not much corrosion that I can see either. Nice.

Nice work, these boats do clean up well with a little work. Those limber holes looks pretty well opened up for water drainage.

A wire wheel will take off what little corrosion you have, mine was about the same.

Thanks, I have a few spare 3M wheels in my garage that I will use to clean up the corrosion. I think I'll go with the foam swim noodles for flotation instead of pink foam. When I paint the hull do I need to prime or can I rough sand the hull and put my paint over that?

If you are going over old paint then sanding is fine, if bare metal it's best to use a zinc chromate primer.

Use a mask if you have one, some of us have inhaled aluminum particles and lead paint dust. oh well, that's why we start with lots of brain cells right

Huron Angler: I think I'll sand her down and go with the zinc chromate primer to play it safe. I sanded down my other boats trailer this spring down to the metal in most spots and used a rustoleum primer and put a coat on top of that and it chips off very easily. A bit of frustration when I look at all the time and work I put into it.

jimdd810: I'll keep that in mind. I have two 2.5l 110 hp merc's sitting in my garage right now. Just curious since I only need one whats the approx value of the extra one if I wanted to sell it?

Looked at Gander and Walmart yesterday to price out boat covers. 116 - 150. I wasn't to impressed with the heaviness of the covers. They seamed light and very thin.

My Seloc manual arrived yesterday. I just browsed through it and it's all to say the least overwhelming. Now I am thinking I should have went with and outboard setup . But I think since it's something new it's like that for some people. I did some searching online on inboard to outboard conversions. Doesn't seam all that hard,just time & labor and the extra space would be nice. But we will see. Marine General has Gluvit in stock so I think I will head over their tomorrow and start on sealing the hull below the waterline this weekend. Then next will be foam and the floor.

jimdd810: How much would you charge to come out and take a look at the motor? Only reason I ask is that the last phase before taking the boat out will be getting a hitch on our van to pull it. My Toyota Matrix is a tad small for it at the moment. I will need someone with expertise to help me install the engine.

Thought I'd have to buy a new carb. But came out ahead when I found an extra bag hiding on me . The fun is now trying to sort through 2 sets of motor parts.

Stopped at Menards tonight and picked up a 3m wheel, a few brushes and rollers, rustolleum etching primer and a can of navy blue top coat boat paint. If the weather holds up I'll be painting the dash, bow top and the side rails this weekend.

What do you guys suggest for bringing back chrome to a nice polish?

While looking over my lower unit u noticed the lines that goto the rams are disconnected. Here us a pic, as you can see that are full if dirt. What's the best way to clean these up without pushing the dirt into the cylinder?

I cannot find zinc cro primer locally, is the rustolleum self etching the correct primer?

Spent All afternoon and evening pulling off all the hardware, mounts, snaps for the cover and the windshield. I'd like to say it all came off easy but that would have been a tad of an exaggeration. I think 90% of the bolts were completely rusted and had to be broken off, sawza'd or sniped off. For reference I'd suggest to anyone to leave the floor in before you tackle removing the hardware . Then went out and bought a tarp, bungies and ratchet straps to seal her up from the rain.

If it's not all pitted, I've had very good results with stuff called 'Never-Dull'

I am going to have go get some bondo to fill in all the holes. I figure when I goto mount my down riggers I'll make some nice wood bases to mount them on. Maybe even glass over them for a nice custom look. I have also been throwing around the idea of having a nice piece of wood on the top rails.
