I have the 1971 Johnson 9.5hp and have a chance to do a trade with a guy who has a 1967 Evinrude 18hp (not sure if he is going to ask for money or not also).

If both are in good running condition with good compression, etc...

what are you guys opinions on the worth of each compared.

thanks

If they were both good motors I'd trade for the '67 18hp in a minute. However, they're both old motors and I don't see a huge difference in price on either. Maybe throw in 50 or max. 100 bucks for the 18 if that is what I really wanted. I'm curious.........Why does he want that trade?? I personally wouldn't want the 9.5 just because it's ugly, not enough power to suit me, and it has that darned front rubber mount that's no longer available and is bad about breaking. No way I'd trade for it if mine ran well.... Then again, is there a 10hp limit on the lake he wants to fish???? IF so, trade quick:).

he deals in outboards and welcomes any trades. I was thinking since they are both older, he might trade straight up. Mine is a bit newer and his is ugly. Someone tried to paint it camo to duck hunt, and it just looks bad.

Mine looks alot nicer...ill see what he says.
