Ripping the motor down from a long-shaft and returning it back to the short. Got my hands on a used drive shaft 25" but it doesn't fit in length (splines are right) which is weird because the long drive shaft was 30" and there's supposed to be a 5" diff between the two.

Any thoughts?

Anyone have the proper specs for the standard length drive shaft for this model?

Thanks--519

Yer right that's weird. If the splines are right and it is 5" shorter, it should be right. Sorry, don't have a weird answer.

Just a thought. Could it be that the impeller key hole is too high on this shaft. In this case the shaft length is right, but it's just the wrong shaft they sent me placing the water pump too high and causing it not to fit in the motor.

Probably just answered my own question. Who'da thought.

Anyone have the specs on where the key hole should be positioned from the base of the shaft. I have the service manual but it doesn't give these type of detailed schematic specs.

Thanks
