Hello
I have 1967 Lightwin...model 3706...The motor was given to me and looks in decent shape. I did a compression check and it has 70lbs on both cylinders. The motor will run , but only at high speed, which led me to beleive dirty carb.I removed the bottom bowl and to my surprise it was clean. Upon further investigation I came to realize that the low speed needle valve is broken off inside the carb. I removed the high speed needle valve and it was ok...when i removed the low speed n/v...the threaded part came out and the needle stayed in...Also I should mention this carb must have been installed by someone other than OMC because I believe that year came with only a slow speed adjustment. Some modifications were made to the engine cowl to allow for the choke knodb and the high speed n/v. My question is how do I get the needle out? What is considered good compression for these motors. Where could I purchase a new carb...or reconditioned one? Thanks
