Re: 1967 folding Johnson; should I use it or sell it?
The 3s are great little motor, well suited for your use. There is no weight penalty for the folding shaft. Most parts for that motor are still available. The 3 had a long run (1952 - 1968), then carried on as a 4 into the 1980s. Your 3 uses the cleaner 50:1 mix (since 1964 models) and was the last of the metal cowl, integral tank 3s (1967 was).
If you really need a neutral, a 1980s Johnson 4? would be good (but they have separate fuel tanks). An old (very old) Johnson 5 model TN has a neutral lever and integral fuel tank, but they are a bit too old to be a practical motor due to parts availabilty (I have a very nice one though). Mercury made a very nice little 3.9 / 4 /4.5 horse single throughout the 1960s and 1970s that came with a twist grip throttle and F-N-R gear shift, but I think the Johnsons & Evinrudes have them beat in terms of parts availablity today.
My advice is that you keep the motor. I think you'll enjoy that little 3. Just make sure that you maintain it properly (periodic impeller replacement, plus keep it lubed & tuned). My dad bought that very same motor new. Today my older brother has it.
