The problem is it runs fine from cold start until it warms up. Once warm it will only run with the throttle 3/4 open and the choke close at a reduced power. If the choke is opened it runs great for half a second then dies (like it ran out of gas). The engine also dies if the low speed needle is opened up when it is running fine.

Compression 60psi on both cylinders cold as hard as I could pull the rope. This seems very low, but then again I can't pull the rope that fast.

The electronics look brand new and test fine.

Carb was rebuilt by me, everything looked cleen

Reeds look fine, actually pretty new.

Water pump replaced by me and is really working okay. I had the powerhead off and inspected all water passages. Does anyone know where I can get the powerhead to shaft gaskets? Perfect seal isn't sealing very well (water squirting out).

Head gasket replaced by me, everything looked nice and clean, not too much carbon build up if any at all.

Gas tank clean and fuel line replaced by me. I have verified fuel is flowing when the drain is open.

Thanks, I forgot about the top secret section. Since this thing was setting up for serveral years with old grey fuel line I think the carb needs another going through. I bet something is stuck in it especially since the problem seems like it is running out of gas.

You probably haven't checked the high speed jet in the bottom of the carburetor bowl, have you? It must be absolutely CLEAN, withoug a trace of any dirt or varnish in it.

BTW, 60psi is too low. It should have 80psi.

But don't throw the motor away because you got a 60psi reading. Your comp gauge may be off. A decarb may help that too.

The engine wanting to die when you open the needle valves from the startup seting is normal, once you start the engine you want to turn the valve to the right to close it to tune it in. once turning it in to the correct point you want to back it out about a quarter turn.
