I noticed that the backing on my power pack had melted off. There is a pool of gray sticky material below the power pack. I don't know why it melted. I assume this material was for insulation purposes.
The engine still starts and runs. Will this cause an issue with running the boat?

Maybe, then again, maybe not... Some of those old potting compounds just tend to ooze a bit. Potting compounds are generally used for protection against the operating environment - insulation, moisture, shock, vibration etc. .

Interesting Crinkle Paint. Either the result of Heat, or someone Repainted it.

CDI/Serria makes a replacement for it

The 1966 ( and other years ) model distributor , points , condenser and 12 volt coil can be fitted to the 67 model.-----Save you some money.
