1967 Johnson 5 horse MINT never used on the water

just picked this little gem up for 200 tonight, it is an unused motor, clean as a whistle with original AC Mk spark plugs!!

I think the original spark plugs were Champions. J4Js or J6Js.

WOW! Nice find at a great price. I'd still be changing out the impeller and replacing the fuel lines before using it. I'd also change the gearcase oil. Somebody has changed out the plugs for some reason.

Agreed, except don't see the need to change the impeller. It's unused....

Maybe the same reason this guy let his '67 Corvette sit in the garage for 45 years!

Agreed, except don't see the need to change the impeller. It's unused....

the impeller is the first thing that needs to be replaced.....or that unused motor could quickly turn into a motor that was only used once! jmo

Carb kit, impeller, new float, in the mail, cleaned out all water channels, stick a light into the piston and it just shines like new, amazing, be about 260 into this thing plus my labor....thank you all for the input, i will keep you posted!! BTW basically a barn find, bought new and sat after the original owner passed in vietnam war, parents just let it sit!

Have you looked at the coils yet? Just wondering if the decomposed with out use. Rick.

Nice find! By 1967 it should be using the brick-red color coils which are usually pretty tough and don't tend to crack like the earlier ones.
