I am trying to get my 9.5 johnson running again. I parked it last fall, and tried to start it last week and got no response. It will start briefly if premix is sprayed into the carb body, so I am confident it is a carb issue.

I did remove the big welch plug and found a drop of what seemed to be thick oil under it. Cleaned and replaced the welch plug to no effect. The needle and seat were replaced last year.

I am pretty good at rebuilding the older carbs form the 50's, but this one is pretty different. If there is a thread that explains how to do it, I cannot find it. Any ideas would be great.

Cleaning that crab is about the same as the other models... just looks different.

The brass high speed jet located in the bottom portion of the float chamber is clogged for sure.

I have the same motor, ran erratic until I cleaned it and put a carb. kit in it, now it runs smooth as silk.

I know I should put a carb kit in it, but the motor is going to be sold, and I hate to drop $30 in a motor I am not keeping. I will check the high speed jet today and let you know what I find.
