New to forum so forgive me if I do something wrong. Just got this engine and it is in beautiful shape. I am running a 50 to 1 ratio in the fuel, and was wondering if this is correct. The engine will barely run unless the choke is engaged completely. There were couple of times when I just backed off the choke a pinch and the engine sounded better. Does anyone have any ideas. Also, the little black knob on the front- is that a carb mixture screw? Thanks in advance.

Great advice. I don't really know how to get a correct 40 to 1 ratio. Is there a table or formula to come up with the correct oil per gallon?

If you have a marine service shop nearby, they may have a small container that has guides around the side for various ratios, 24:1, 32;1, 50;1 etc. very handy to have around, less than $5.00 I think
