I recently purchased this boat from a guy knowing it needed lots of work. before can include pictures i need to setup a photobucket account . i will get the acount open and post pictures. Love the iboats forum. i wouldn't have even attempted this restoration with out it. Currently we have ripped out the rotten deck and are in the process of removing foam which realy sucks.

Welcome to iBoats!
Posting pic from PB is really simple. Once the pic is uploade just hover over it and a popup will open like this one...
IMGtag.jpg
Click the IMG Code window (the bottom one) and it will say Copied. Now return to iBoats and Right click inside of your post and Paste the pic. Done!!!!

Re: 1967 larson lap line restoration with Pics

The Pic in post #4 was a poorly taken photo of day one demo. Everthing was rottten and foam filled. Currently she has been stripped down and in the final stages of being prepped for transome and stringers. Hope to get more pics up next weekend. I am kind of concerned with the transome someone had a bad day on the water. i haven't uploaded all my pics to photobucket yet so i cant show you.. There was a stainless steel pieces of metal across the transome machined very well i might add that covered the transome where the motor was forced partialy through the hull at the lower portion of the outboard motor mount. i'll see if i cant find the pics and post them soon. My current plan is to attach my transome on the outside of the hull with some all thread then grind down the damage on the inside and lay new glass. when cured ill have to go to the outside sand down and fill in a depression where the damage was and apply some fresh gelcoat to it?
here is a pic of the stainless plate

have to take pics of damage later in week

There is not any information that i can find easily on the net. I was hoping to find Specs of the boat such as : length, Beam, Weight and what not a brochure would be awesome

From the 1967 Larson brochure, as posted here.. You'll have to register at the site, but then you can see all 20+/-pgs

Damn near impossible for me to decipher any of it at max enlargement at the original location either:redface:

Comboards?? Canuck for I/O?

Re: How Big is it...

You have your PB album set to PRIVATE. Put some packing tape over the outside of the cuts in the hull then lay in a layer of 1.5 CSM, a Layer of 1708, another Layer of CSM and one more of 1708 and you're good on the inside. Outside will require some sanding and a couple of layers of CSM some more sanding and fairing and gelcoat and you'll never know it happened.

From what I have read it will not soak up the fiberglass resin and will not stick. Also it is spongy feeling because it is wet. Don't use it unless you want to do this whole process again sooner than later :)

Here are the basic reasons why I chose marine grade:
1. Cost was not that much greater than exterior grade in the grand scheme of the project. Got mine at Schutte Lumber in Kansas City....
2. More ply's per inch than exterior grade = strength
3. Less knots/voids in the ply's which should equal more strength.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Most treated plywood is WET! It can take weeks for it to dry. The chemicals seal the wood to some extent and therefore the resin cannot penetrate as well, and some say the chemical can adversely effect the adhesion.

No reason you couldn't fabricate your own.
Most Plumbing houses will have these...

You could easily drill mounting holes and use brass tubing to make it all work.

Re: pressure treated transome

Looks like i am sS.O.L. on the ply i did sand it down pretty good before resin and matt went on and now that it is mounted in the boat with fibergalss it is pretty solid. i did give it about a month plus some before applying mat and resin hopefully i can get quite a few years out of it. it definitely is solid. the previous transome was less than an inch thisck. the new one is two pieces of three quater joined together with mat, pb, and galvanized screws.
as far as the bilge tube design-- i came up with this Groco TH-1000-WS http://www.seaboundsupply.com/groco-th-1000-ws-stainless-thru-hull-with-nut-1.html?gclid=CN2TvaztnrMCFXSSPAodMXcAxwStainless on the other end of it i plan on putting a ball vave.
just so happens i work at a plumbing company in lake charles louisiana and we carry brass ball valves
