Anyone know anything about this particular boat? A local neighbor who wanted to buy my 1970 17' Bayliner but already sold was a little upset and really wanted my boat. He did not see my ad until after I had a potential buyer! Sorry for him, but I'm willing to help the guy out as we are a all military community and why not. Here is a boat I found as he prefers the classic look and really likes this boat. I was not sure based on photos if you guys think it is good boat. I know the things to look for in buying a boat especially one that is old, rot, transom damage, engine specifics, etc... but is that mercruiser motor any good or not worth getting? I personally love the way it looks and if I did not have my 25' Searay I would buy it.

Same motor in my bayliner just more HP then what I had and mine was great strong motor!

Re: 1967 Seaflite

I put some time in running one in the 70's and have worked on a few over the last 10 years. Wouldn't be hard to completely restore one of those. Simple systems, dated but simple. The Mercruiser is a good system. Older for sure, but parts and replacement/up grade drives are available. Price is gonna vary by location. If that is a sea dog I would look real careful for rust/corrosion. One of the things to be aware of is that in older boats the wire insulation will get hard and bounce harder and cause more stress on the connections. Easy fix just tie up all the wire so it won't bounce.

Boy really? Maybe that is why he is selling it then huh? My 140HP Mercruiser runs fabulous for a 1970 so I figured this one would be just the same and easy to fix up. What do you mean by burdensome?

Wrong motor for any owner. It is a good looking boat! 80 hours???? That is a red flag unless changed last year.

So is it that particular motor that is no good? And why is it bad?
