So I bought a 1967 Swiss 6 15' runabout with an Evinrude 33 hp...It was in great shape. Solid in all the places that normally are suspect. After a bit of cleanning and waxing I got her in the water last weekend. The engine wouln't get me up on plane! 5 mph was the best I could get on the return trip up the Susquehanna River. After some adjustmet to the throttle linkage 30 mph was much better. I have to admitt I was just a bit worried on that first outting...but the second one had me all smiles. This being my first boat (other than a flat bottomed row boat), I am sure to have a great time :p

Re: 1967 Swiss 6 Launched

Looking fine there divertodd -- I was just saying over in the "What motor do you wish you never sold" thread how a 33 just like that one that my parents had got me hooked on boating for life. They are fond of telling how, at the tender age of six weeks I'd be out boating with them, bundled up in a crib they lashed into the rear of a boat almost just like that one. I swear I can still hear that old 'rude humming away like a top.

Anyway, great to see another one gone to a good home. Only suggestion I'd make is to launch and haul out with the motor up.

Looks like a nice little boat, 30 MPH is pretty good for a 35!

I live in Harrisburg, but keep the boat in Mechanicsburg at my Folk's place. So far I have only had it in at Goldsboro. The Pics are actually in Edinboro lake up near Erie the day I bought it. Just wanted to makse sure everything was working before I brought it home.

Looks great.

If I had a dime for every time I pull the cover open and pull started a 33 I would probably rival Bill Gates in wealth!! Great motor.

I was going to buy one in a boat yard in Harrisburg for 500 (boat and traier only) that had been sitting out for years as a project. I was in Erie, PA and stopped by a boat shop and was inquiring about supplies to use to fix it up. The owner asked me if i wanted a project or wanted to play on the water...Then he showed me this boat...it had been shrink wrapped in his yard for 2 years....mine for a grand! Boat, Motor and trailer. He tuned up the motor, replaced the impeller and I washed and waxed it and drove it away. I think $1000 as a good price.

Well I have been busy with the boat the last couple weeks. I added a switch be seperate the nav lights from the stern light. It was origionally wired to turn on both. Now the anchor light can be activated by itself. I rewired the horn. I added a bilge pump and a 12 volt accessory jack. Oh yeah...I have also been out playing on the water too! :) Next I will be working on the canvas top that came with it.:)

Sweet. Give that cable steering the once over while you're at it. No real reason to suspect a problem but it does have a few years on it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did look at it. It seemed to be in good shape. The cables looked good and the springs at the back showed no signs of rust. The pullies seemed to be free and not corroed either. Did I miss anything?...I am learning a lot with this boat every day:)

Not critical but I notice in the pics that the motor seems to be sitting in the bottom trim hole. True? Do you have any issues with the bow plowing at all while planing? Might try it up one notch to see what the handling characteristics are. Who knows, maybe you'll pick up a knot or two although with manual systems it's always a tradeoff between good hole shot and cruise trim.

Acually it is in the next to last hole. It planes out pretty well. The bow dosent plow, I was actually thinking of trying the last hole. My brother-in-law took some video of me running and the bow seemed a little high if anything.
