I'm new to iboats so go easy on me if this has already been addressed.

I have a 1968 20hp Johnson I bought last week. The owner thought it had a bad cylinder but I cleaned the carb and put in new spark plugs and now it runs fine. I did pretty good on the deal. 14ft Duracraft boat, trailer, and motor for $150 bucks.

Now that I got her running... I cannot see where the water discharge is. I have found what i believe is the water intake. But no out. I am hoping it is not the water pump. It may just be clogged from sitting (Dirt Dobbers or something). But I cannot find the outlet nozzle anywhere. My best guess is a spot located with the exhaust.

If you need pictures I can post them.

Look at the backside, about half way down. See that hole? That is both the exhaust relief outlet and water outlet. There should be a healthy spray of water blowing out there anytime the motor is running. Some more exhaust and water also goes out underwater where you can't see it.

Thats what I thought. I'm going to run some wire up it to see if it has any clogs. If not... I'm guessing its the water pump.

Forget the wire, won't prove a thing or unclog anything that isn't clogged anyway. It would be like sticking a wire up the exhaust pipe of your car.

Around here that would go for $800, with a cleanin up first.
Did you brandish a gun?

Here are the pictures of it my boat. I'm not sure what color I will paint it... but any would be better than this.

The trailer is perfect. It is a home-made one. Uses shocks not leaf springs.

The boat has one dent in it. Looks like another vehicle hit it. Its up high... well above the water level. I was able to hammer most of it out.

The motor didn't run when I got it. Replaced the spark plugs and it fired right up. Cleaned the carb.. and it will stay running. Now, after I replace the water pump... it should run great.

I actually traded a generator for it via craigslist. But I only paid $150 for it. Either way... I think it was a great deal.

I'd say you did alright on that deal. I have a 66 20hp Johnson. They are bullet proof motors.

It WILL need a paint job. Its painted like Barbie (the doll)

The color doesn't look so bad. Then again, I'm kinda lazy.
Barbie, that's a great nickname for her.

Those light weight aluminum boats are so easy to trailer.
Enjoy the new rig!
