My '68 Johnson will not start. It cranks fine, and is getting sufficient fuel pressure. When I prime carbs w/ pre-mix, it fireS off, then dies again. It was running strong last season. Maybe carbs need cleaning?

Hi, Dennis.

Welcome to iboats. :)

It could be carbs, but three carbs don't usually all go bad at the same time unless they all got gummed by long storage with unstabilized gas in them. I would check the fuel pump before tearing into the carbs.

Good luck. :)

Same for two carbs, dennis.

Never eliminate a part because it has been replaced, overhauled or cleaned recently.

I pulled apart each segment of my fuel line feed from my tank to the engine, and found one of the ball valves at the primer buld to be stuck open. Hopefully I just have a fuel siphon issue.

I removed and reinstalled all fuel lines, drained carb fuel bowl, and now motor starts right up. Does this make any sense to anyone? Maybe water in bowl?
