Azlo - I started reading about a week ago... finally got to this page... I am very impressed! I have a 72 Glastron V174 that I am restoring and reading this and seeing the pics is very inspiring (not to mention taking up a*#$% load of my time!) Looking forward to following along in real time now! Cheers

New outdrive upper unit looks cool, and will be even cooler after the "Azlo Blue" paint treatment!

Azlo,
How difficult was it to bend the diamond plate for the bow? I am going to have to replace the aluminum on my bow due to way to many holes by the previous owners. I am thinking of either using the same thickness (0.63) or going with a (0.25) and just placing it over the existing piece. I think since the (0.25) is so thin it will bend easily and I will probable use some type of epoxy to adhere it to the existing piece of aluminum. Pros-Cons anyone?

Thanks man, u say it took a week? Man that more reading than I do a year, but anyways. Yeah toph, this thing takes a lot of time and money but I wouldnt trade it for the world now. Im loving it man. Good luck on yours and post.

I love the diamond plate zm008!! For seversal reasons,, Its thick u can walk on it since this how this boat was made. Its shiny! And it still moldable. Not hard at all to bend to your liking. Now cutting It,,,,I used a jigsaw with oil.

First off, KUDOS doood! You are one serious craftsman. Everything you have done with this boat is way above and beyond the level of mere mortals. You are like in the Justice League of Super Boat Restoring Heroes.

So I made some progress, painted my drive , now working on my trim

SO I was at it all day with the drive and finally all together ready to be installed. Wewww, man im am worn out.

Not only did I got ithis together but I laso got the trim working. Well sort of.. It busted a hose.

I guess thats what I get for using old parts. Gonna need some new hoses and test again.

Hey wood, that there is a brand new drive, no etching necessary, just a light sanding, eh. Azlo is just customizing

LOL.. yeah I scuffed the paint & then shot it. But I use self etching on bare aluminum......3 thumbs up, yeah I like that.

Im loving the time I have right now. had a good time putting my drive in today & here it is.

Put my gear forward, lybricated everything and used my engine lift to help install it. U know I thought it was going to be very difficult but the only difficulty I had was the oil on the floor from the trim hose. Crap I hate to slip & slide. One thing I did forget to do is to do a vacuum test & a psi test on the drive Ill do that tomorrow and then fluid if everything is fine. I also bought seats That I will post soon. Luvn it, Luvn it.

Hahaha, just imagining how it would look after i clean them up & reupholster the red cushions white.
