It has been a long time spent prepping the body, sanding, filling and learning to pull dents & what have you. It feels like i dont have any fingerprints from all the sanding and I know i weigh a couple of pounds more from all the dust in my lungs. But finally i can say the heavy work has been done.

As you can see I have sanded the epoxy (gluv it) to a smooth finish, only on the visible parts. Will repimer and then wet sand.

Filled the dents nicelly.

Keep in mind this will not be a show boat, (it will sctratch from the fishing, drinking and what else). So i have only attended the most visible dents.
Moving on to the heavy build primer.

lol
Ya know when they move a project to the FINISHED section here..They ask you to clean up a lot of non repair/restoration banter..
And lose a bit of the "heart" of the guy doing the project..

keep on bro

I'm going to try avoid the showboat thing myself so my boys can enjoy themselves. If it get scratched then it will just get painted again eventually.

Keep up the good work. The colour scheme will look great.

OK so now i was gonna spray the heavy build primer from rustoleum, mixed and shaked it and then sprayed it.
It came out like crap. It looked like non skid.

MAH004691.jpg

I looked at the mix thinking that i need to shake it some more. But I noticed that the primer and the mineral spirits dont mix. I read the can and its suggesting RUSTOLEUM ACETONE.

Dam the bad luck. Should of read the can first. So im off to get acetone @ Autozone will be be back.

Man i dont know what just hapenned but i feel like lost $50. This rustoleum filler primer just was not filling the scratches, even after not using any thinner. One quart per side at 26$ a pop was just not cutting itand it calls for 2-3 coats. The red Zinc was the thickest primer ever, so I used it with the acetone and it worked beautiful. The transom was beautifull it filled the scratches very well.

MAH004717.jpg

So i had to gover some spots to fill in scratches.

MAH004711.jpg

Well at least something good cameout of it. I still dont know why i got these primer blisters, gonna have to do some research.

MAH004712.jpg

But i know that before painting it white I will need to primer gray so the red of the zinc wont bleed through the white paint. Now to clean up.

Could the blisters come from beads of sweat, or fingerprint oil...are you using a water separator on your compressor...just thinking out-loud
She aughta look real sweet with that ultra smooth base you've got going on.

HSF Im thinking its the change from mineral spirits to acetone that I did. Im gonna sand and reprime but i was agressive degreasing it. As far as moisture i have a desicant filter, 2.5 foot long full of Desiccant .
