1968 Jhonson wont shft help

Hello i pulled the lower unit replaced the impeller, but when i put it together it wont shift what am i doing wrong? please help

what hp? sounds to me like you don't have the shift rod clamp lined up correctly

What do mean by "it won't shift?" Does the shift lever move but the motor does shift, or does the shift lever not move at all?

If the lever moves without the motor shifting, then you likely didn't get the shift linkage put back together correctly.
