Hello,
I just bought a boat that has a 1968 johnson on it. I attempted to start it this weekend, it started and then stopped. I felt I should have choked it but I just don't have the magic touch yet. Well When I tried to start it again, it wouldn't turn over. All I could hear was a click and something moved in the engine, but it wouldn't turn over. I in advertantly bumped the throttle lever and it started to turn over. So then I pulled down the lever that said "start" But it broke. So I took the whole thing apart.

My question.... Is there a safety switch that could be "going out" or breaking on the throttle assembly????

I am going to attempt to find a new start switch, but I think I can use the broken one until I find one...

Matt,

The engine must be in "confirmed" nuetral before it will crank.
