Does the lean to rich knob work the same a idle mixture screw or do you have to keep playing with it? I would think that once it was set I should be able to leave it alone.

I am all ears, someone teach me the ways of the old outboards!

on the other end of that knob, is an idle mixture screw. Once you got it set, pull the knob off and put it back, with the middle of the scale pointing up. That way if somebody messes with it, you'll always know exactly where it was to begin with.
