Well took it all apart again during the half. Getting good at this I guess.

Well it wasn't the reverse cut-off ring as it against the wick holder where it should be...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Nope. You have to figure out why you don't have four make/breaks per rotation. Sorry, can't do it for you.

Thanks. Well I confirmed that I do have four max readings on my meter in one rotation. The breakers had to be gapped at .009 to get this reading.

Will try putting this to the test again tomorrow.

I was told to gap the plug tester at about 7/16....

Any suggestions beofre I put thins back together again?

Thanks again

Only this: 7/16" on the plug wires is wishful thinking on that motor. Try 1/4" And don't even think about trying to run the surface gap spark plugs in it. Use L77JC4

Thanks. I installed those plugs as well.

On another note I noticed the ignition "on" light was not working since it was all rusted out. So, I installed a new replacement and still nothing. I took all the wires off and cleaned all the contacts on the key terminals, choke switch and light. Putting it back together I noticed the wires were not correct prior to me taking everything apart. I put everything back per the service manual wiring diagram and presto the light works! I also tested the output of the choke switch and I am getting 12 volts there as well!

Question: Could the miswiring here cause the lack of spark that I getting?

Also, I think the choke solenoid might be dead. I noticed it does not have a ground terminal, so ground is accomplished through the choke casing ony?

Thanks

Well it could. Except you said early on that you were getting 12 volts input to the amplifier. So there wasn't a wiring problem as far as the igniton switch feed was concerned.

Choke is grounded through the solenoid can if there is no wire. They often do have a wire though..

Yes I was getting 12v in to the amp with the key in the "on" position. Well I will confirm when I give it another try soon.

Question: do the choke solenoids fail. I did a direct connection to the battery and got nothing.

I checked online and they are pricey $140!!!

Part #0385554

Found a used one on eBay for $40.. So, I grabbed it.

Thanks
