i have a 1968 johnson electric shift, and i finally got it going, and we were driving it around, and soomehow as i was driving the exhaust/waterpickup( the plate on the lower unit that is behind the propeller where the exhast exits) fell into the lake. i have called around, and no one seems to have one. does anyone know a good place to look, i live in toronto and haliburton Ontario. i also have a non electric shift 40, which i think i will use. so would i have trouble selling a good electric shift lower unit with new seals? byut lacking this plate.

My guess is he is looking for this part .

From my 1964 90hp parts book : #308307 Outlet, Exhaust + #308320 Screen, Water intake .

Might try twincityoutboard.com or Outboard-part.com .
If you are lucky someone here at the forum might have one .
As a last recurse ,it should be rather easy to fabricate something to make it work ( water intake )

Good luck

You would have absolutely no problem selling it on eBay or anywhere else for good $. The world is full of good running motors with fried electric shift lowers. Replacement parts are very hard to find and pricey. Anyone with a fried electric shift lower will gladly buy yours and swap out the exhaust outlet.
On the other hand, the world is also full of fried electric shift lower units with good exhaust outlets on them. If you want to replace yours try tcoutboards.com or some similar salvage outlet. The exhaust plate is probably the only cheap replacement part there is for these units.
