Desperate for some clarity. I am unable to find a circuit diagram or write up for the wire routing for my 1968 mdl 60 6 Hp Merc STOP switch in either my Merc service manual or my Seloc manual. I am more than surprised at this oversight. I'm not the original owner and the OEM stop switch harness #32372 must have been replaced long ago and is no longer available; the exploded parts view I can find looks like #32372 is a 3 wire harness but the installed replacement is a 2 wire harness. It won't stall the engine and appears to merely shut off 1 cylinder since one lead is connected to the red banded stator ground lead at the junction block. Is the fix to individually attach one STOP switch lead with one stator lead at the junction block which allows inducing the stall by connecting the 2 stator leads when the stop switch is pressed? I could try this but, I was afraid I might damage a coil or condenser. Need help!
