why is it when you don't want paint to come off, things get scratched all to
--ll but when you want to remove paint,it's a nightmare to sand or grind off!!
I don't know what kind of paint Starcraft used but itwas some tough to stand up the way it has for 40 yrs.

I would have left the paint and just scuffed and sanded it, if it was that well adhered, it would have made a good primer.
I have a 63 that will be getting some new paint soon but my lower sides are still decent with only few nicks and scrapes. The main hull will get a good scuffing with some self etching primer on the bare spots and then a good solid coat of epoxy paint. The inner hull will get a coat of gluvit and some epoxy, the floor will get coated with epoxy then a coat of Tuff Coat.

I'm not getting crazy with this one, what I really want is the 18' or 21' version of one of these.

Where do I get this photo bucket you're talking about?

Heh heh....

Ok, well, like all things learned, there's a start.

1st, resize your pictures using a photo editing program like PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro. Even Microsoft Paint will work if you have XP or better.

Best size to embed the picture in your post is 800 x 600. There's many people here that have ancient computers and would rather spend their money on boats. 1024 x 768 is good for me, and probably most, but it's too big for some and you'll get complaints.

Next, after saving your pictures resized, go to a photo sharing site on the web like Photobucket, Imageshack, or my favorite HERE Then upload your pictures from your computer to their service. Once done, you'll be able to have direct links to your picture via a web address that can be used to view them. It looks like this: http://aycu35.webshots.com/image/50514/2001200860013831198_rs.jpg

Now, to embed it in your post, you click on the icon in the post board labeled "Insert Image". It'll ask you for the URL, which is what I just showed you how to get. Paste it in there.

You'll get this in your post, but it'll be your picture, not the screen shot I am giving you.

That's it! Now you know how to put larger pictures directly into your post! :D

EDIT: When using the website AllYouCanUpload, you can select resize from the drop down menu under browse...which saves a step (a big step) editing them on your computer.

EDIT 2: Also, you can obviously edit previous posts, or use the preview button to see what it will look like before you submit it. If there's a mistake, you can correct it.

Re: 1968 Starcraft 16' Jupiter Restoration Project

Glad to see your pics!

Your boat looks a lot like my 1963 Starcraft which I have never been able to pinpoint the model. Other than mine being a bit more on the blue side than aqua, they look identical by the pics. A few others and I were debating which model it actually is since it don't match any of the catalog pics for 1963, yet Starcraft identified it as a 1963 Jet, but the Jet was a much smaller boat.
What are the measurements of your hull? Mainly the exact length and gunwale width? The next closest model I've seen was a Holiday and that was newer as well. I don't doubt mine is a 1963, it still had a 1963 registration sticker when I go it and every years ID card in the side tray.

Mine was converted to teleflex when I got it, but the hardware for the cable steering is still there and the old helm was under the deck.
Mine came with a new windshield that was never installed, but I plan on using an aluminum framed windshield from a newer model for the convenience of being able to reach out on the deck.
