Heres a shot of the inner......going to get soft wire wheel and work it before i spray with zinc chromate.

I got out the palm sander and roughed up a section for paint testing. The current paint job showed alot of runs and sags.....took a while to smooth out. Some thr areas were very thin with the paint, hence the previous color showing thru.

Life back there would be a whole lot easier for you without that transom cover in the way.

Ok, so i turned my attention to inner transom skin. First pass with palm sander and 150 grit.

Here is a close up of some of the corrosion, will use a brass wire wheel to clean and then skim with jb weld or equivalent to fill and level.

Took a page from another starcraft restorer(Azlo) and drilled some drain holes in the flange where the bottom of the new transom will go. It was wet in there when i removed the old transom.

Ok, so the short list looks something like this:

New transom wood
Vortec v6 from late 90's model truck for rebuild
Build new motor mount beds

Long term look ahead:

Floor height mods( for belly fuel tank)
Framing for bow cap, re-design of stern for v6 conversion
Final decision of paint color
Trailer rebuild
More tweeks to convert from hoilday to
hoilday supersport( just came up with that)

Those z channels end up getting quite a bit of corrosion between them and the transom skin. I would recommend removing, cleaning and painting.

Oh oh, a bowectomy in the works.

it will be more of a "sternectomy" but a bowectomy may not be out of the question either. would like to be able to use this as a fish and ski, trolling motor options, which could also be a mount on the outdrive. Thats research for down the road.
