1969, 40 HP Evinrude, Impeller Removal, With Electric Shift Without A Manual Or Needed Tips.
1. The needed tip w/o a manual was knowing the electric shift cable was holding the lower unit and reming cable.
2. Otherwise it was a straight-forward job of dropping the L/U and reming the impeller.
3. We did get a Clymer Evinrude/Johnson O/B Shop Manual ?Donated Loan? after we finished. LOL!
Concerns & See Attachments:
1. The impeller appeared to have excessive wear but not brittle/broken. Why would the output change during the quick barrel test (heat)?
2. Will a smooth pitted housing affect the output of a new impeller or cause more than normal wear? Could excessive pitting be due to sitting since 1990 (water ran out as te worked)?
Thanks in advance for any additional info/experiences (or what did I miss).
