Hey all, first let me apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong area.

As some of you may know, I'm finishing up a "re-furbishment" to my '69 Chrysler Valiant 14' runabout. (I've also had an awful time trying to post pix here, but that's a different matter!) I've had fair luck finding replacement/NOS parts & badges etc. However I have not been able to find a replacement dash plaque. It is plastic, basically black in color, about 8" long, 1.5" wide and has the vintage round red, white, blue "Chrysler" logo on the left side and block letter "Valiant" script on the right side. Mine is all faded, and would be difficult to clean up and re-use. Does anyone have one available, have a friend, or know where one might check? It doesn't have to be brand new, just serviceable and better shape than what I have. No luck with Franzmarine, on Ebay, CL, or internet search. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and a great day to all...

I had and restored a valiant, cute boat. I dont think you will find one. Cheap boat, often not taken care of, and not sold that many years. I was not concerned with perfect historical recreation, so I found a neat automotive Valiant emblem which looked great on the dash.

good luck with the little boat....after all my work, I decided I really wanted an open bow.

Steve, your's was the first restored Valiant I looked at when I bought mine last year. You were a bit of an inspiration and I loved your pix. I can't wait to get her on the water.
I've looked at some pretty neat Valiant car trim, there is a nice "Valiant" script trim available on ebay but it's pretty pricey. I've been able to keep this project pretty much on the cheap from the get go, have done all the work and paint myself and was very lucky to find an old boat that was/is VERY solid! I'll keep looking and maybe get lucky. I wish I could be as lucky as you and find a replacement canvas top. Mine is shot and I'll have to likely have one made w/ side curtains. Thanks for the reply and have a great day!

I have no idea if this is a practical solution - but would it be possible to have a sign ship make a thin vinyl facsimile to stick on the exisitng emblem?

I thought of that very thing, and might still go that route. My problem is the emblem is SO faded I'm not sure of the color schemes and I haven't been able to find a good picture of a sample.
Having said all of this, I did find/buy a very nice 10" script "Chrysler" emblem in cursive from the early '60's in great shape w/ great plating. So I'm going to do a little research on having a vinyl overlay made up and then compare that to the script trim I just bought. Best look gets mounted!
Thanks for the reply...

Re: 1969 Chrysler Valiant Dash Emblem

OK, after much internal debating I have decided to make a replacement dash trim plaque out of balsa wood(paint stirrers) to the original dimensions. Since my boat is a very mild custom refurbishment, I decided to go with a white backround, with red "VALIANT" block script letters. I've mounted small stainless steel machine screws to the back of my homemade trim plaque that match the original mounting tabs perfectly. I'm thinking she is going to look OK and will match my little custom dash insert to hold my warning lights on the other side of the dash. (Overheat, Iginition, Charging). I'll post some pix when finished.

I had purchased an old chrome cursive script "CHRYSLER" logo and have mounted her on the port side just above the transom, she looks SWEET!

Hi I just bought a Valiant in good condition but can`t figure out what year it was made. I put some pics on the gallery...maybe you can tell me what to look for. Do you have any pics of your`s . My canvas is still decent and the floor and transom are sound....must have been taken care of and carefully stored.
any info you could provide me would be a help. than:)ks
