After many months (o.k. it's been over a year....and some more) I am finally putting something back together vs. ripping it all apart.
Here are some pics of the first few transom steps.
Transom:
-2 pc. of 3/4" ACX Plywood ("Scuff") held together with PL construction adhesive
-Raw wood transom was coated with one layer of resin.
-Tried to wrap the three hull curves on the bottom of the transom with 6" strips of tape ( 1.5 oz CSM) Didn't turn out that great but I feel it will give strength.
-All corners are rounded over and will be fit to the transom skin where I will be running a fillet (inside) corner covered it 6" CSM tape
-Existing (inside) skin has been sanded, cleaned with Acetone, covered with two coats of Resin.
Next:
19.3 oz Biaxial (45/45 cross) cloth backed with 3/4 oz CSM to be laminated inboard side of transom
1.5 oz CSM laminate on outboard facing side if transom.
Fillet
Tab it all in with three strips of 6" tape (maybe another strip oz 19.3 over all of it) Open to suggestions it you got them.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE POSTED HERE with their repairs and restorations. You have all been a wealth of information and have given me a true learning experience!
