1969 Mercury 7.5 hp - Cowling (Lid) Removal

Hi,

I bought a 1969 Mercury 7.5 hp motor and I have no idea on how to get the top cover off. Also the tiller throttle control has no markings.........so how do I know where the start position is on the motor.

The top release is at the rear of the cowl inside the lift handle just pull the levers down to release

I have a 1969 9.8hp and 1972 9.8hp as well as 2 1972 6hp models and the
indications are on the actual throttle twist handle on all four.

I would assume yours should be the same unless someone changed the handle.
