I posted a few days ago on this motor and the more I read the more confused I get. From my searching I think its a 1969 Pathfinder 7hp. Model # 1186. Serial # 50200. I had a reply of 16:1 oil mixture but have read several places 24:1. So which is it? I thought it was air cooled but have also read it may be water cooled. Again, which is it? I want to give it a start but need to know if I need a bucket of water to do so. Thanks.

your engine is water and air cooled AV750, the factory spec's for your outboards oil mix is 16:1, that being said I would not hesitate to run a 16:1 engine at 24:1 or even 32:1 (my preference for the AV750) with a good TCW3 2 cycle oil that we have these days, but this is just my opinion and you know everybody has one....

here is the factory spec. look it up for your self.

this is from a thread I answered yesterday concerning Eskas water & air cooling systems
Re: Sears Gamefisher Tell-tale question

Welcome to Iboats,

You should feel a mist of water from the relief holes, the mist or spray is not always visible to the eye depending on the leg design...as it has been miss stated many times that these engines have a water cooled leg it is in fact that there a hybrid design that actually cools the bottom of the cylinder and main bearing, any cooling to the leg is only secondary to the removal of heat from the actual engine.
Older AV750 and AV520's model Tecumseh's did not have the water chamber for the cylinder cast into the block and the water only circulated between the cooling plates acting as a heat sink for the exhaust port and main bearing areas.

If you run it with out water only let it run about 30 seconds at a time or less
