More qualified people are bound to chime in, but I don't think the transom on older Starcraft boats had an aluminum face between the transom wood and the splash well. In my signature you can find the thread where I replaced the transom in my 16ss. It's not too bad of a project. Good luck and I'll be following along.

Yep, ^^^ he's correct, and apparently more knowledgeable then he gives himself credit for: The wood was exposed to the elements on the forward face of the plywood transom. As 1 who has torn into, repaired & re-splashed an SC, TnStratoFam is as knowledgeable as most of us.

There are plenty of references @iboats to the removal & replacement of SC transom plywood.
