Hello, what is a good product for the outside transom on an aluminum StarCraft? Does it need to be a thin plywood or something else that will hold up better.

Originally many of the small StarCraft and other tin boats had a small plywood section under the motor. It doesn’t really need to be there. When I re did my Holiday 14 I did elect to put one back. Doing it again, I would use Coosa.

Plywood will last a long time if sealed properly, either csm and polyester resin or Old Timer's Formula ( a sealant the woodworking guys here came up with I think).

Do not use treated plywood, the chemicals react with aluminum and cause corrosion.

I just use tremclad on plywood it lasted over 20years. If you’re leaving the boat in the water then I’d use plastic.
