I am sure they are 1970-1972 models
both 55 & 60 hp is evinrude triumph
both are 3 cylinders outboards
both are elctric shift
both have 13 1/4 X 17 props
except 60Hp has larger brass bushing inthecenter of the prop than the 55HP splines are the same size.
55HP says selectric on shifter box
60hp does not

They probably interchange, but it'd help to have the model numbers, to be sure.

I don't think they made the 55hp in 1970. I think OMC made the triples as 55hp in 1968 & 1969, 60hp in 1970 & 71, and 65 hp in 1972 & up.

They did increase the diameter of part of the propshaft either between 1971 and 1972, or midyear in 1971. As you say, it won't affect your use at all - same prop fits both propshaft. The only difference is when you rebuild them, you need to get a different part number for the seal kit.

The swap is pretty easy. Tie something to the electrical leads so it's it easy to pull the new one up through the exhaust housing. It takes me a while to get those wierd splines to line up, so I try to get a second person to help out (turning the flywheel, etc.).
