Are the plugs showing signs of getting fuel (good smell or damp)? If not, spray 1-2 good puffs of your premixed fuel in the carb while trying to start.

Re: 1970 9.9 crysler motor

Some are a little fussy starting the first time and the reduction gear starter exiting through the front won't spin the flywheel fast enough. Try wrapping a rope around the flywheel pulley and starting that way. Once you get her running, she may start easier in the future. I run my small engines onece a week to prevent this kind of starting problem.

Be sure you open the throttle to the start position and choke the engine for a cold start.

Probably time to *CLEAN* the carb. But before doing that, remove the fuel line that feeds the carb and then crank the engine. You should see fuel pulse out in spurts. If not, then backtrack fuel source - including quick-connects.

Do you have fire with the plugs installed while under compression? I had engine analyzers at one time and could see this fire and know it?s possible to fire outside but not inside. I just got a 5.00 spark tester just for this experiment vs needing it. I am interested in seeing if the 5.00 instrument works and how long. Plus, it could become handy.

Most of all! If you have fire, prime it, it should fire even if it does not continue to run. This would help eliminate some possibilities in your challenge.
