And it worked! This was end of september 2014.

The motor sputtered a bit on the high end but still managed to get 24-25mph. That was the first and last time the boat hit the water in 2014. The lake level was so low last fall it was tough to launch. We would really give it the test in 2015.

Fast forward to 2015 (yesterday, in fact). We got her back on the water.

After a few gallons of fuel, the sputters went away and we were able to make 28mph. That's all shes got but it was running well and I am happy with that. I may be able to squeak 30 out on calmer waters going solo. I miss the old merc650 that i had before.

Some pics on the water (sorry, none at speed). I know how you all like those pics....

Hey thanks for the update, the ole Jet looks good out there in the water with those run of the mill glass tubs!

Back at it again. All of a sudden the floor just fell off the boat. More to come....

Foam going in

All there. It was not s bad as I thought it would be. The 1" cut clean with a utility knife and snapped right off. I was fearing a mess of pink bits everywhere.

5/8 inch floor going in next (sorry, 19/32 for those keeping track). Feels mighty solid compared to 1/2 inch half rotten floor that came out.

Pink will keep an eye on things in the bilge. He is good at catching any mice or other vermin that may come calling.

So I used 3 sheets of 1" foam for 8 cubic ft total. Gives ~480 lbs floatation. Plus a couple cu ft of wood and math-math-math hopefully it is enough. As much or more than it came with anyway.

After 3 sheets, here are the leftovers:

Nice usage.

You might want to throw those scraps in for good measure.

Starting to resemble a boat again. The floor is quite solid. I may have pushed it a bit on the foam... The floor went in pretty tight as it had to get drawn down to the stringers. Perhaps I was counting on a little bit of compression. Either way there is a floor now (woohoo).

Getting the seats out in and a few fixes on those. They are being held together with duct tape and chewing gum at the moment but will do for now. Perhaps next is a seating purchase or makeover.
