Hey guys. I have a 1970 115 which has a pulse pack.. I'm wondering if that pulse pack can be swapped for an amplifier used on the 85hp and 100 hp.. Please help me. Thanks guys.

Does it have individual coils or one coil?

I'm not really proficient on Johnsons that old but my best advice would be to figure out the procedure to test the coil. That would be the first thing I would suspect.if no one else pipes in on here I'd Google it or look on line for the service manual. I personally go to the local library. They have a good collection of service manuals.

I just found out that one of the slow speed mixture screws was all the was in.. Could that have caused the miss?

No. They have different ways of making them fire.

The pulse pack is fired by a trigger and the amplifier is fired by breaker points.

Oh okay. Can I convert the motor to a modern ignition system. Like one off a 80s motor?

Can't tell you 'cause I never tried it. Maybe somebody else will chime in with more info.
