Is it possible to move the fuel pump from the lower crankcase
port to the upper port, so pretty much switch the covers with each other. To me it seems like it should go on the upper part because the pump is too close to the side of the lower pan.
I have a 1969 evinrude 18hp parts motor and the fuel pump port plate is on the top part.

Also was wandering if anyone would happen to know a part number for the rebuild kit to rebuild my fuel pump model number of my motor is 25r70 e

About the only thing that can go wrong with the little pump is the diaphragm !------So you can get just a diaphragm for it.-----Or you can get a kit.-----The factory kit has complete instructions for the novice.-----Now the parts for that little pump may not be listed for a 1970 model motor.----But they are listed for much newer motors well into the 1990's that also use that pump.-----Or if this is a challenge you can get a " made in China " replacement pump for very cheap too.

Actually, it is supposed to go on the upper cylinder for 1970. However on some later models it needs to go on the lower cylinder because the crankcase drain line needs to go to the upper cover.

Bottom line is the pump will work on either cylinder, but the factory put it on the upper in 1970 and it had a different drainage system.
