I have a 1970 johnson that i just purchased. The motor runs great but the ignition switch was missing. I purchased a new switch but it did not come with a wiring diagram. I dont know which wires go where on the switch, My wire colors are, red,white,2 black, grey, brown, and blue with a purple tint. They switch i bought is a 6 terminal switch

The six terminal switch should have its terminals marked as: B (Battery), M (Magneto), M (Magneto), S (Starter Solenoid), C (Choke), A (Acessory).

We need to know exactly what engine you have.... a 1970 what?

The "Brown" wire is most like "TAN"... double check that color.

The "Blue/Purple Tint" wire does not ring a bell at all... double check that wire also.

Here's a diagram for a '70 40hp. If you don't have an ammeter, run the red wire to the B terminal on the switch.

Terminal ID's difficult to read in diagram. Starting at the bottom with BAT (B) then clockwise: M,S,A,M.
