Posting a little late, but i have benefited so much from others on his forum maybe mine will help.

Like someone siad in another post I read...if you have floor rot the stringers are probably shot too. I finally got it out his afternoon by using a grinder and cutting at the base then a little prying.

It is a 1971 40 hp Evinrude Ski Twin. I have also done some reworking of it; new seals and bearings in the foot, rebuilt carb, and installed new coils/points plug wires.

the boat really isnt worth restoring but it belonged to my wifes grandfather. I hope it will last another 40 yrs so my sons could enjoy it.

Some more pics...showing worn points, what the magneto looked like before replacement, after the stringer was removed, and the foot entrails.

Progress is very slow right now because I am taking a chance on balance and center of gravity by making modifications to the floor. Like adding storage compartments and a deck to the front. I will also add a bit of coverage to the portable gas tank and batteries at the transom.

I will post some pics later.

Boats are always worth restoring. And your grandfather would be proud when you get it done. Nice boat, by the way.
