Hello,

I have just purchased a 1970 Mark Twain - 165 HP boat. I do not have a owners manual or technical manual. Does anyone know where I could get one or both? Does anyone have one they are not using? I would be willing to pay for it. Thank you. Safe boating

------------------
JSF

Owner's manuals are practically impossible to come by. What you need is an engine manual. They're sold according to the engine manufacturer (Mercury outboards, Mercruiser sterndrives, OMC outboards or sterndrives, Volvo sterndrives, etc.)

iBoats sell them in the Marine Mega Mall at decent prices...

JForbes,

Clymer makes a manual for the engine/outdrive. Their website is: www.clymer.com. They are available at most marine stores/dealers. Is this the boat that came with a hardtop?

jforbes, is this a boat that you are restoring or a boat for normal use? Ihave an original mercruiser operation and maintenance manual in good shape that was revised in 1973 .But i want it to go to some one who is restoring a boat with a 120/140/165. because of the age of the manual it would probably fall apart if it was actually used, ithink of it more of a show piece that would be cool to have along with a restored mark twain or other classic boat. if you need just the info that it contains i will copy and e mail it to you if you like

djohns:

Thank you for your reply. I will go to that web site. This boat did not come with a hard top. However, I got an incredible deal on it. I bought for . . . $475.00 really. The only small problem it has is it needs a new motor, the block is cracked. I did find an engine for it, so after a little work I'll be jumping the waves. Thanks again

ya do need a service manual. but don't bother with the seloc....
assuming it's a mercruiser, here's where ya can have a real service manual.

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=251571

you need #1, it's a large file, but has all the infor ya need to work on yer engine and drive.... give it time to download, it is big. 1 + gb......

the prop that came on the motor is a 14 p . that exsplains why it would not get up on plane and low rpms right ?

Thanks guys. I looked and the prop is a 14 p. Is that the reason for not getting on plane? Motor seemed like it was over loaded. Also is there a specific dia. ?

Please start your own threads in the appropriate areas roger instead of tacking onto this decade-old one. Thanks.
